Lardner Park Steer Trial

We are proud to be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Australia’s only grass-fed Steer Trial. With a rich history of benchmarking excellence in a controlled, pasture-only environment, this event has become a cornerstone of the beef industry. The Trial provides producers with the opportunity to assess cattle under independently managed grazing conditions over a six-month period.

The steers arrived in mid-June, with the program running until mid-November. Compliant with the Coles QA grass-fed program, the Trial aims to deliver valuable insights through in-trial data collection, while also ensuring competitive purchase prices on carcase meat at turn-off. Carcases are assessed to domestic specifications, with a hot standard carcase weight (HSCW) target of 220–330 kg.

We encourage you to stay up to date with all Steer Trial information, event dates, and data releases. Producers can compare Trial results with their own on-farm performance, while students are especially invited to get involved – as the future leaders of our agribusiness sector.

Everyone is welcome to attend the weighing days, which provide the chance to network with sponsors and fellow producers, view the cattle, and observe their progress.
