The Commonwealth Bank’s – Yarn at the Farm – Networking Event is an opportunity for farmers, ag dealers, Lardner Park representatives and local dignitaries to have a yarn.
With the “Return to Heritage” theme for Farm World 2021, Yarn at the Farm captures the ideal that Farm World is much more to the local farming community than just an opportunity to buy equipment.
Lardner Park chief executive officer Craig Debnam said in the early days of Farm World, it was traditionally about engaging agricultural dealers, farmers and the local community on latest advances in equipment and technology.
“Farm World has always been the time to discuss the latest dairy, milk, beef and sheep prices, the opportunities or challenges of the ever-changing seasons; and, the latest equipment and technology advances or improving farm productivity.
“Lardner Park recognises this has been a little lost in recent years as the focus turned to lifestyle and leisure activities and we’d like to get back to our roots and provide a chance for farmers to engage, from across the road, over the hill or across the district.
“This event is all about farmers and our community having a yarn,” he said.
Mr Debnam said Farm World 2021 and beyond would recognise the valuable opportunity that sharing a yarn presents to our farming community that operate for many hours a day, weeks or months in isolation.
“Sharing a yarn or sharing a problem is an important part of operating on the land and with the noted battles some farmers and our community have with mental health these days we think it’s time to bring our community back together for a yarn,” he said.
Lardner Park board appreciates its long-time partnership with the Commonwealth Bank and for supporting the “Yarn at the Farm” initiative.
The networking event will bring together a range of significant players in the local agricultural community and will be a chance to enjoy a sausage sizzle or a hamburger served by the local Lions Club.
“We are keeping it simple and inviting farmers and the ag exhibitor community to join our CommBank partners as well as our Lardner Park board, committee, local State and Federal MPs and Baw Baw Shire councillors for a chance to have a yarn.
We hope our farming community, and local ag dealers will embrace this opportunity,” he said.
Farmers wanting to attend the Commonwealth Bank’s Yarn at the Farm event should contact their local dealer and express interest.
